Overview
This route is located from the south-east of Mount Kilimanjaro and beginnings with a short drive from Moshi town to Marangu gate. This Is the oldest and most well-established route with its nickname the Coca-Cola route which derived from the fact of being the only route people sleep in the hut instead of tents as another route. Marangu route is considered the easiest route on Mount Kilimanjaro due to its gradual slope, although in real fact should not be considered as the fact of truth and despise the necessarily required preparation.
This route has its own test of adventure, scenery, and challenge and contrary to other routes, it offers a comfortable sleep in the shared mountain hut with solar light and a comfortable sponge mattress. The uniqueness of the route is that it is the only route where clients will get time to visit Zebra Rocks located close to mawenzi peak. The trek uses the same route for hiking up and down and offers a great view and panoramic vistas. This hike can be climbed in five days, although at Kilimanjaro Simon Adv Travel we recommend a 6 days hike with better climatization at Horombo hut with a Zebra rock visit. Our success rate is 95% on this route
After breakfast and briefing, drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (about 1 hour), register and commence the climb. Walk through the rainforest to the Mandara encampment. A side trip to Maundi Crater is a good way to see the surroundings including Northern Tanzania and Kenya. In the rainforest, look for towering Eucalyptus trees, bird life, and Colobus monkeys.
